Sgt. Eli Benjamin Guptile and Pvt. Frank E. Wicks, Company H, 16th Wisconsin Infantry

Guptile enlisted as a Corporal and was later promoted to Sergeant and also transferred to Company I, 16th Wisconsin Infantry.  Weeks was wounded at Shiloh on 6 April and later died due to disease on 31 July 1862 in the regimental hospital

My great grand uncle Benjamin Dean was also there in H Company 16th Wisconsin. Maybe they knew each other? Good to see what the unit uniforms looked like.

By and large the Wisconsin boys at Shiloh were wearing the Wisconsin 5 button sack coat.  And yes, I am sure Mr. Dean knew them!
