Cpt. Robert H. McNair, "McNair Rifles", Company E, 3rd Mississippi Infantry Battalion
Mortally wounded at Shiloh on 7 April 1862, dying due to those wounds on 16 April 1862. The 3rd Mississippi Infantry Battalion opened the Battle of Shiloh on 6 April 1862, engaging Peabody's patrol in Fraley field. By 7 April, only about 100 men were in the ranks of the 3rd.
