Pvt. John William Copple, Company C, 11th Illinois Infantry. Online records for Copple conflict with each other. One source shows that Copple was wounded at Shiloh on 6 April 1862. Another source shows that he was wounded at Fort Donelson on 15 February 1862. Either way, he was discharged due to his wounds on 23 July 1862 in Jackson, Tennessee. It appears, given the location of his discharge, that he was probably wounded at Shiloh.
