An interesting front sight on a cannon

Looking at that picture of the cannon barrels piled up on the river bank... there are some large steel ones...bigger than the bronze barrels. Looks like 9 or 10 of them. Are those Parrot rifles? Could they be the ones that the mortuary monuments were made from?

Yes, they are 30 pound Parrotts Rifles. There are 16 of them at Shiloh used as monuments, some used as cabin roof supports. Don't know if they still are used as a roof support. The superintendent's cabin occupied by Major David Reed, later Delong Rice use to be in the Review field and had artillery tubes for roof supports.
