Eastern Corinth Road

Recommended Posts

It is mentioned in Cynthia Ott's Report entitled "Shiloh National Military Park that the alignment of the Eastern Corinth road was changed during the civil war.  The misalignment was discovered when Atwell Thompson compared the historic maps with the location of the road in 1900.  This error affected the assumed campsite of the 16th Wisconsin Regiment.  After discovering this error concerning the road location, Cornelius Cadle (chairman of the Shiloh park and Atwell Thompson met with the owner of the property (at that time) and agreement was reached to allow the road to be routed on to some of the Spain field property.  The campsite of the 16th Wisconsin was cleared up and filled in.  possibly, reestablishing the campsite of the regiment forced the road to pass through the fields of the farm (Spain Field).  Mr. Curtis was the owner of the property in 1900 and he permitted the road to be built on its old bed of the campsite.

I compared several maps of the Shiloh Battlefield and noticed that on some maps, the road went through the middle of the 16th Wisconsin camp

Mona

That will be like the road situation here.  We have more orange barrels per-capitia than anywhere else.  The government leaders actually closed three neighboring roads for construction at the same time.  WHAT A MESS.  I wonder what their bonus will be?
